Hey mate,
Outside of a little town in Texas, meets four of the most amazing men I know. They call themselves The Siglo Four.
Joe Vitale is one of the stars of the greatest selling DVD of all time, The Secret.
Pat O’Bryan is the everyday genuis behind the concept of, The Portable Empire.
Bill Hibbler is the master of Masterminds, and how to be a niche Rock Star.
Craig Perrine is The Inspired Marketer, he helps you take your Inspirations and build them into profitable businesses.
I am honored to have smoked both expensive and cheap cigars with these awesome mates. I have gotten to know their families, and over time have become friends with all of them. Great men, who are taking the time to do great things.
Now here is the kicker. When I see them at seminars, they generally have two kinds of people approaching them. They have people who think they are Gods, and they have people who honor them as hero’s.
Why it’s easy to make Joe Vitale your God.
It’s easy to make Joe, or any of the Siglo 4 your God, by thinking that THEY hold the key, the power, to your success. “If only Joe would promote my book, or write the foreward for me, THEN I have a chance at making this project profitable.”
I’ve seen it, I’ve done it. I’ve had it done to me. (I’m a minor celebrity in the Internet world, compared to my mates, but it still happens.)
The problem with making Joe, or me your God, is that it puts the power outside of you, and it puts the pressure on him. Make sense?
On the other hand…
Joe was at one time homeless. He’s an everyday guy, who has worked hard, and prayed and played smart, and who has dedicated his life to a level of excellence and service.
He’s one of my friends, and one of my Hero’s.
A hero is one who takes the journey, walks the walk, does what needs to be done. A hero is one who inspires and invites others to do the same.
What we need in the world are more hero’s!
There are two ways we can do that.
The first, is to realize when you make someone out there your God. When you find yourself doing that, STOP! Don’t beat yourself up, don’t get goofy, just STOP. Once you stop making them your God, they can then become a source of inspiration for you. They can become a HERO!
The second way to get more hero’s in the world, is to become one. I believe that everyone has that divine spark within. The spark that when fanned into a flame will help you live the kind of life that will transform your world.
Take the time to honor that spark, listen to it every day, train with mentors and coaches who will help you do that, and follow your spirit and make a difference.
The world needs more hero’s and less Gods. Will you join me in the quest to give birth to more hero’s? Please share your comments below, and if you find this article inspiring, Stumble and Digg it. Thank you!
Invite more hero’s into the world! You’ll be glad you did!
Enjoy the day,

Well now Mr Twenty Twenty, I have to agree with you 100%
The “God” factor is of course our own inequities and fears bubbling to the surface whereby it’s easier to say to ourselves “Oh they did it because they’re a God - how can I be expected to, but if they’d endorse my product/service I’ll be set for life”.
It’s a question of personal responsibility and accountability we need to embrace rather than shirk.
Our “leaders” in government are great examples of what not to do, and just because they dress themselves in a non-accountable suits and wrap themselves in plausibly-deniable coats, it doesn’t mean we should follow suit (no pun intended).
The media shovels us the politics of fear, berating us 24/7 with images and messages of destruction, murder, famine and war.
Our senses are being assaulted, our brows beaten, our collective psyche acclimatised to apathy and inaction.
We need more hero’s alright, we need more to stand up and be counted and not just sit still “mooing” mumbles of discontent with the rest of the herd.
The divine spark is within us all which if you don’t believe you are a God, it makes each of us at least a demi-deity.
To an empowered future…
Mr. Twenty Twenty,
So true! Keep making it real, I’m bringing my power home.
Insights like these are why you are my personal trainer!
I am glad to call you friend, coach, and brother!

Joe Vitale is one of my heroes!! He inspires me to raise the bar higher for myself. I love the guy!
I enjoyed and appreciated this post. You make some good points, and you explain how to navigate the perilous waters of taking hero worship to the false God level. Not that these heroes are false in any sense, but when we go “outside ourselves” for worship, we lose sight of our own god-given potential within and waste energy on misdirected adoration rather than well-spent energy on emulation of those we respect for their accomplishments and hold up as exemplary individuals to learn from. Nice job, 20-20, and thanks!

Twenty-Twenty,
As a golf professional and a personal coach what is the best thing we can do to help our students acheive their goals? Show them what we’ve got and get out of the way…without judgment or preaching.
Grat Job! Nice bit of writing too 20/20
Amen, Brother! Anytime we believe someone else has power that we do not have, we are making a big mistake. I strive to learn how to use the Power that is within me, and also within every other human being. Joe and Pat O’Bryan are internet success stories for me. They both inspire me. However, I learned long ago that there are no gurus in this lifetime. There are people who inspire us. It’s good to keep that balance in mind.
Great Write! These guys are heroes of mine, as well. I love their projects, and I love watching PortableEmpire.tv, to see what crazy antics and powerful info they’re coming up with next.
You make a good point, my friend, and I would take it one step farther, I think. Having heroic people to model is a boon to our own personal development, but the line between hero and “god” can blur if we place our heroes on proverbial pedestals.
That said, nice use of Joe’s name in your blog title — that’s sure to attract attention and the search engines are gonna love it.
Kudos!
